Samsung SOC R&D Lab is looking for Sr Staff/Principal Engineer to join the team of engineers with start-up spirit to develop and commercialize the world-class cellular modem SW. The candidate is expected to bring passion, innovation and strong execution in cellular group for commercialization of Samsung Modem.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand customer requirements and develop L1 features based on customer requirements
• Design, develop and verify L1 features in L1-Controller and PHY layers
• Participate in new feature development and debugging for North American carrier requirements
• Work closely with global protocol team and other modules within team to develop top quality software

REQUIRED SKILLS (Education Certificates, Licenses, Travel)

• Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering related communication area
• Minimum 15 years of experience in cellular domain
• Ability to take ownership and bring innovations in development of commercial Modem SW
• Good experience with 5G mmWave module PHY/L1 software development
• Good understanding of 3GPP 5G/4G/3G/2G and 3GPP2 CDMA systems
• Strong understanding of 3GPP/3GPP2 Layer 1 protocol specifications
• Lead a team of 10+ members PHY/L1 engineer to develop new features
• Knowledge of physical layer channels and procedures
• Good understanding of PHY layer procedures in detail
• Excellent C/C++ programming skills
• Understanding of North American Cellular carrier requirements

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering related communication area
• Good understanding of L2/L3 protocols especially MAC, RLC, PDCP, SDAP
• Good understanding of HW abstraction layer / DSP / Embedded conceptsAbility to analyze crash dumps
• Work on (R&S/ANITE/ANRITSU/SPIRENT) box for L1 test
