Our Accounting team at SGH is looking for a talented Sr. Payroll Tax Accountant to help with all aspects of payroll tax including compliance, reconciliation and analysis of international tax issues. A successful candidate for this role has a strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and has experience with a mid to large company payroll environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Process biweekly payroll submission, include but not limited to: reconcile, adjust and export hours data from Deltek to ADP; calculate retroactive pay adjustment; determine tax treatments of earnings and deductions; enter Third Party Sick Pay; and review of payroll draft prior to transmission to ADP.
  • Process post-payroll submission, include but not limited to: prepare payroll General Ledger entries; reconcile overtime and other variances between ADP and Deltek payroll data; submit retirement contributions data to third-party administrator; calculate and record vacation liability
  • Review and approve timesheets for completeness and compliance with Federal and State labor laws and company policies. Communicate with employees on required corrections.
  • Review and maintain employee database, include but not limited to review new-hire payroll and tax profiles; review withholding certificates; track employee on leave of absence; monitor payroll data changes; monitor and advise employee who relocates to different jurisdiction.
  • Respond to HRs termination order by issuing final paychecks on time as regulated by States labor law.

What You'll Need:

  • 5+ years of payroll and payroll tax experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or similar discipline
  • High level of proficiency in ADP Workforce NOW, Microsoft Word and Excel. Deltek Vision experience a plus
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, federal and state wage and payroll tax laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines, be proactive, maintain confidentiality of employee records, and exercise extreme discretion
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
