Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. ("AHP"), is seeking a Research Associate I to join our team of leading behavioral health researchers and evaluators. This position will be located in AHP's Sudbury, MA office with some project-based work in the city of Boston.


AHP (www.ahpnet.com), is a fast-growing consulting and research firm specializing in health and behavioral health, offering technical assistance and training, system and program development, resource development and dissemination, and research and evaluation. Our core content areas include substance abuse treatment and prevention, mental health policy and services, co-occurring disorders, workforce development, homelessness and housing, and criminal justice.

  • Manage the implementation of all or a portion of evaluation/research plans. Participate in project meetings and site visits, assign responsibilities, supervise staff assigned to projects, manage data collection, resolve problems, track budgets and timelines
  • Conduct quantitative analysis
  • Prepare reports, presentations, literature reviews, and other work products
  • Lead/contribute to business development efforts
  • Participate in data collection and data quality/integrity tasks
  • Track, and conduct interviews with study participants
  • Meet regularly with the project team to discuss interviewing, data, and any difficulties
  • Conduct participant focus groups and key informant interviews
  • Act as a liaison between the evaluation and provider staff


  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, public health, or related field
  • 3+ years' experience
  • Strong knowledge of social science research study design and methods
  • Strong experience is required in the following:
    • Quantitative analysis using Stata
    • Data collection and reporting using REDCap
    • Project management
    • Proposal writing for federal and state grants/contracts
    • Working directly with individuals with substance use disorders receiving publicly-funded treatment services
  • Ability to perform duties that require close attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, technical staff, partners and clients
  • Ability to operate in a team environment and be flexible in taking on and performing assignments as necessary
