Position Purpose

Coordinates faculty development activities at the Thayer School of Engineering of Dartmouth College, coordinating all details of the search process, providing continuity to this important aspect of the planned faculty expansion, as well as supporting faculty development activities. Provides senior level administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Development.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Coordination of Faculty Development (50%)

  • Under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Development, plans, schedules, and ensures seamless execution of activities around faculty development.
  • Provides general academic and administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean, Academic Affairs.
  • Gathers information for the Senior Associate Deans' meetings, may coordinate the agenda, and distributes material to participants prior to the meeting. May take minutes and follow up on action items as asked to by the Senior Associate Dean.
  • Regularly handles confidential or sensitive information, exercises discretion concerning its disposition.
  • Represents the Senior Associate Dean/s when they are not available, ensuring a professional and friendly impression. Interacts regularly with a wide range of internal and external constituents and staff members and conveys information on behalf of the Senior Associate Dean.
  • Serves as lead on coordinating special events and/or projects as needed.

Faculty Recruiting Administration (40%)

  • Ensures compliance with processes agreed to by Deanery and IDE , works with Dean's Office and the various Chairs of the Faculty Searches, to provide support to and administration of the faculty search process. This includes use of Interfolio for recruitment actions, coordinating search committee collaborative use of the system, use of Dashboard ( FAST ) and handling all logistics for first round interviews from schedule details to candidate travel and logistic support for faculty search related Jones Seminars.

General Office Support (10%)

  • As a member of the Deanery and the Thayer Administrative Team, will collaborate with and pitch in when available if other team members need help, including assisting with administrative support for events and serving as tertiary backup to the Executive Assistant to the Dean at Thayer.
