What is a Human Resources Manager?

Vail Places employees are our most critical asset and were looking for a new team member to help implement our human resource strategies! The Human Resources Manager will work alongside supervisors and support staff to facilitate the routine functions of the HR Team, including recruitment and hiring; employee onboarding and separation; administering pay, benefits, and leave; enforcing company policies and practices and ensuring employer compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about effective hiring and recruiting strategies, experienced in navigating employee relations situations, and have previous experience with the ADP Human Resource Information System.

For over 38 years Vail Place has cultivated hope and inspired change to promote mental health recovery. Our growing programs assist individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness to get the supports needed to accomplish goals and find recovery from mental illness. We are seeking a compassionate, empathic, positive and employee centered leader to join our management team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are typical for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

  • Partner with agency leadership to implement the organizations human resource and talent strategy, including current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provide support and guidance to supervisors and staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; including facilitating the process to provide reasonable accommodations, investigate allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Three years of human resource management experience.
  • Knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements; SHRM or equivalent HR professional certification highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience working with the ADP HRIS platform.
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Positive attitude and ability to be flexible.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 platform and applications, internet, electronic timecard system, and computer network (files, drives, and folders). Ability to use office equipment including telephone and voicemail systems, copier, printer, fax and scanner.
