JOB TITLE: Engineering Manager

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Director Supply Chain and Manufacturing Europe & Asia


Coordinates and supervises engineering for Italy and member for of the EMEA Operations team.


  1. Head of the engineering team based in Marano doing projects for the sites of Marano Ticino (NO)and Bertinoro (FC)
  1. Prepares conceptual process studies followed by EPC projects for implementation of the selected projects.
  1. Ensures that specifications, material requirements, drawings and estimating of project costs are completed, compiles the results and prepares recommendations.
  1. Submits recommendations to Senior Management for decisions.
  1. Ensures the execution of CAPEX projects within time and scope with the resources of the engineering and external contractors.
  1. Submits monthly budget and status reports on capital items under his or her control.
  1. Prepares cost estimates for the project pipeline and next year's capital budget.
  1. Prepares SOP's for engineering functions, production operations, plant processes, and general procedures.
  1. Coordinates and supervises the work of contractors, design engineers, and specialists.
  1. Monitors energy usage and costs and communicates with energy suppliers to ensure the reasonableness of costs.
  1. Provides technological support to production for troubleshooting of problems related to the Balchem core technology.
  1. Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards. Works to advance and promote the safety culture of the site.
  1. Provides engineering assistance to other departments.


Education and Experience:

Degree in Chemical Engineering with a detailed knowledge of chemistry, electrical and mechanical engineering and construction methods and their practical application.

A minimum of 10 years of experience including project management and scheduling, plant operations, equipment maintenance and process control equipment and theory.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in supervising the work of and coaching others.


Work is mostly sedentary but intermittently involves climbing, standing, walking, and tactile evaluation when checking out sites or equipment. Requires travel, including air as needed.
