The Cleveland Clinic, one of the world’s most distinguished academic medical centers in the U.S., announces a search for a Director of the Center for Clinical Research for Cleveland Clinic Florida. 

The successful candidate will meet requirements which include MD, DO and/or PhD credentials. A minimum 10 years’ experience in conducting and oversight of clinical research programs at an institutional level. It is expected that the successful candidate will have an active research program in research areas that could include the use of large scale clinical outcomes databases and/or drug or device clinical trials. It is expected that the successful candidate will have been or is currently a Principal Investigator for federally funded grants in clinical research. Experience with data management, analysis and statistical methods for data analytics is also required. A faculty appointment within a University at the Associate Professor or Full Professor is expected. Candidates from Industry with these same academic credentials in clinical research trials will be considered.

 

Responsibilities include oversight of all clinical research within Cleveland Clinic Florida. Cleveland Clinic Florida is an integrated academic healthcare delivery system of 5 hospitals in Southeast Florida. Cleveland Clinic Florida also has a growing basic- translational science program with a focus on infectious diseases, inflammation, cancer research, heart-vascular research and neurosciences. Cleveland Clinic Florida is part of an integrated academic global health care delivery system. Its clinical and basic science research programs are integrated within the Enterprise.

 

The Director with have oversight responsibility in collaboration with the Administrative Clinical Research team for:

  • Compliance with regulatory guidelines and best practices
  • Oversight of the clinical research budget
  • Development of the workforce
  • Infrastructure for large scale data collection, data management and analytics
  • Review and approval of intramural funded clinical research

     

    The Director will be expected to collaborate with clinical service line leadership to assist in the growth of their clinical research, extramural funding and publications. As well as facilitate the integration of clinical research with the basic science research program in Cleveland Clinic Florida. The Director will collaborate with the clinical research programs within the Cleveland Clinic global health care delivery system.

     

    The ideal candidate would continue to have their own funded research program and can continue to have an active clinical practice as desired. The percent clinical and research effort will be consistent with the time commitment required for the role as Director of Clinical Research.
