WWF's internship program vision is to recruit professionals early in their careers who bring fresh thinking and innovation to the environmental and conservation sector and are well positioned to develop into the next generation of leaders. Our mission is to increase exposure of students from underrepresented populations to conservation and environmental careers, provide professional development opportunities, reduce the barriers to attracting a diverse pool of internship candidates, and develop a pipeline for future WWF hires from underrepresented populations.

Position Summary

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks an Accounting Intern.

This position provides the opportunity to gain valuable cross cutting and multi-departmental experience in NGO accounting functions, financial reporting, and resource management while supporting the world's leading conservation organization. WWF's Finance team is seeking a paid intern to assist in updating financial documents on multiple platforms, coding invoices, and managing various stages of Request for Proposals (RFP's). In addition, as we close the fiscal year, this position will assist with audit and act as support for various members of the Finance and Accounting teams.

The ideal candidate is comfortable with numbers, detail-oriented, and hard-working. You will be a member of a very supportive, dynamic and close-knit Finance team. This is a team that learns and grows together, and that looks forward to having you join us.



Responsibilities

  • Reconcile simple payment returns and Accounts Payable Trial Balance to General Ledger
  • Provide investment support to the Treasury department
  • Review and organize bank statements
  • Assist with scheduling and invoice coding
  • Conduct financial assessments using both D&B and the Bloomberg terminal
  • Review and update various sites on Sharepoint to ensure more current documents are saved

Learning Outcomes

  • Experience with management of financial reports, invoice coding, and financial assessments
  • Learning Sharepoint, Workday and use of the Bloomberg terminal
  • Management of RFP life cycle
  • Management experience while acting as backup for various team members
  • Experience working with a welcoming, high performing professional



Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with basic finance/accounting concepts

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student (or recently graduated)
  • Accounting and/or finance course experience
  • A commitment to the mission, goals and values of WWF

Location:

US Remote WWF employs interns in all states with the exception of: Alabama, Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Compensation:

Paid - $15 per hour (35 hours per week)

One time stipend net $100
