The Authorization Director leads and coaches the MyriadONE Authorization team, effectively directing authorization operations to achieve successful authorization workflows, leading to clean claims and reimbursement by payers. Authorization workflow team tasks include (but are not limited to) insurance eligibility checks, authorization submission and resolution, authorization appeals, error management and continuous communication between internal partners (Customer Service/Success, Payer Markets, Revenue Cycle, FP&A, Data & Analytics, and Commercial) and external partners (payers and vendors). This position works in a high-performance, fast-paced authorization-focused team environment performing key revenue functions across all Myriad Business Units.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively coach and lead Manager(s) & Insurance Maintenance team to reach organization's greatest potential through continuous improvement and positive organizational behavior
  • Ensure employees receive necessary training to meet their needs and regulatory compliance requirements, including adherence to HIPAA, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Authorization workflows, including appropriate internal controls and operational performance standards (KPIs).
  • Responsible for entire performance management cycle of direct reports, including hiring, training and development, and performance management.
  • Establish Authorization team goals in line with company goals and facilitate cascade through direct reports. Monitor trends and maintain an actionable dashboard with communication to Authorization team and senior executives.
  • Daily review of work queues and weekly review of productivity and outcome reporting by business unit. Consistent coaching/communication to resolve open action items.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities and facilitating resolution to achieve department goals and optimizing internal/external partnerships
  • Ability to solve problems, deal with changing variables and participate in the implementation and continuous improvement of the department.


Qualifications:

Meets minimum education, experience, and behavioral requirements:
  • Master's degree in business field, preferably in Finance or Business Administration
  • Minimum five years of management experience in a billing, medical, or insurance environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, critical thinking, analytical, and teamwork skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with data tools
  • Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced, high-performance, growth environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with third-party payers, vendors, and other functional areas
  • Must be a self-motivated, innovative, and positive leader
  • Must have the ability to work extra hours to meet corporate and departmental goals
