The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) is one of the nation's leading advocates on behalf of constitutional rights and liberties. Founded in 1951, as the New York affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, the NYCLU is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization with more than 180,000 members and supporters, and eight offices statewide. We work in the courts, in the legislatures and on the streets to advocate for racial and economic justice, free speech, freedom of religion, privacy and equality before the law for all New Yorkers. For more information, please visit our website: www.nyclu.org.

The NYCLU affirmatively values the humanity and contributions of those we work with, inside and outside of the organization; and will take action to build and sustain an equitable, anti-racist culture that centers the voices and experiences of marginalized and directly impacted people and communities, and an organizational environment where all people feel valued, trusted, and respected. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and having a workforce that reflects the population that we serve and actively recruit people of color, women, people with disabilities, formerly incarcerated people, and LGBTQ and gender non-conforming people.

The 19th annual Sing Out for Freedom (previously Broadway Stands Up for Freedom) benefit concert will be held in the Winter of 2021. Every year, the concert highlights a theme important to the work of the ACLU/NYCLU. The concert includes performers and speakers from Broadway and beyond that inspire supporters and remind all that the ACLU and NYCLU's work to defend civil liberties in New York and across the country is more vital than ever. In 2020 the event was held virtually on YouTube and we expect to hold a hybrid event in 2021. For more information visit www.singoutforfreedom.com.

The Sing Out for Freedom Intern will assist the Development Officer, Events, in all aspects of event planning, fundraising, digital marketing, and donor cultivation, especially as it relates to our annual Sing Out for Freedom benefit concert. This individual will also support the Development team as needed with other activities, including individual giving, foundation relations and internal/office projects.

Event-related duties may include but are not limited to: setting up digital platforms, sending event invitations and gathering RSVP's, prospect research, vendor research and communications, sponsorship outreach and tracking, calls to potential attendees or supporters, collaborating with key staff to develop program content, compiling materials for event presentations and day-of event logistics, social media posting and strategy.

The intern must be willing to work some in-person evenings and weekends leading up to Sing Out for Freedom in early December in NYC.

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in fundraising and event planning. Please submit your resume, cover letter, and 1-2 references via https://recruiting.paylocity.com/recruiting/jobs/Details/629242/New-York-Civil-Liberties-Union-Foundation/2021-FallWinter-Benefit-Concert-Internship . Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until positions are filled.

The NYCLU is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, sex, gender identity or expression, age, disability, religion, national origin, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran status, record of arrest or conviction or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and having a workforce that reflects the population that we serve.

The NYCLU is committed to providing reasonable accommodation to individuals with disabilities.
