Development Associate
Youth INC is seeking a Development Associate to join our team as we deepen our capacity to raise critical funds and provide resources to support the most promising youth-serving nonprofit organizations in NYC. The Development Associate will play an important part in helping Youth INC improve existing processes and expand into new territory. This role supports the Development Team's fundraising and event activities including data entry, event logistics, board member and donor cultivation & stewardship, prospect research, meeting minutes and general administrative support.
This position is NYC-based, and as there are forward-facing responsibilities associated with the role, you would be expected to be in-person for select meetings and all events.

The Position:
Key Responsibilities:
Calendar Management & Stewardship (25%)
- Coordinate and/or manage meetings, events, and phone calls with Board Members, sponsors, donors, new business relationships, and other stakeholders to support Development Team members as requested
- Support team in internal and external meetings by prepping materials and packages, and typically attending those meetings and taking notes
- Maintain correspondence with donors and appropriate financial personnel; ensure donors receive proper acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship; manage progress reporting; maintain timely, accurate, and complete records in Salesforce, including call, meeting, and donor notes
- Support board members and subcommittee work as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Event Planning & Production (45%)
- Manage event-related responsibilities in the lead-up, during, and after events, including sending invitations, tracking RSVPs, fulfillment of sponsor benefits, coordinating materials, researching venues and working with vendors, attending events, and managing attendee stewardship
- Contribute to Youth INC's ongoing corporate engagement efforts by attending events and acting as a representative of the organization, coordinating follow-ups post-event, and updating prospect pipelines as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Prospect Research & Database Management (30%)
- Identify and research new donors, including corporate and foundation funding partners, individuals, and major gift prospects, keeping a pulse on emerging philanthropic trends; work with staff, board members, and selected individuals to ensure coordinated and effective solicitation; prepare written donor proposals; provide information to the Executive Director, Chief Development & Marketing Officer and Directors of Development needed to pitch to prospective donors
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communication team to create compelling solicitation materials and personalized communications
- Maintain organized folders on the shared network drive

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business operations or development required
- 2-3 years of applicable experience, which may include experience in the nonprofit sector, including development and/or events, corporate sales or account management sectors
- Very strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience building relationships with external stakeholders, including staff, board members, corporate supporters, and donors
- Experience using prospect research tools such as Relationship Science, iWave, RelPro, etc. a plus
- Proficiency with basic Salesforce or CRM administration and comfort utilizing on a daily basis
- Exercises discretion and common sense in handling confidential information
- Strong sense of accountability to deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously and take a proactive approach to problem identification/resolution
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be effective working independently
- Embrace challenges and adopt new responsibilities with creativity, initiative, and self-direction
- Demonstrate flexibility when adjusting work to address evolving priorities and competing demands in a dynamic work environment
- Collaborate with in-person and remote team members
- Knowledge of New York financial sector is a plus
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $55,000-$63,000, is the starting range for this salaried position, depending on experience. We also take a genuine interest in the career paths of our team. We take pride in developing and advancing our people, which is demonstrated by 70% of our staff partners having been promoted within the last 24 months. This position is eligible for promotion in Dec 2022/Jan 2023 during our annual promotion period
