The Human Resource Manager will be involved in a full spectrum of human resource areas, including employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits, performance management, payroll, leave management, and compliance with federal and state laws. This individual will need to apply subject matter expertise to their responsibilities although they do not need to be a subject matter expert in all below listed responsibilities. This position is both strategic and practical. The Human Resource Manager will report to the Director of Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating a culture of inclusion, respect, and belonging for all employees.
- Place job postings, source candidates, and assist managers as needed in the recruitment of qualified individuals who support our ideals of a culture of inclusion.
- Be instrumental in the design and rollout of a new performance evaluation process and provide ongoing administration of said process. Provide guidance to managers and employees.
- Oversee, and when needed, participate in, payroll, onboarding of new employees, and offboarding exiting employees.
- Manage logistics of benefit selection and open enrollment.
- Exercise independent judgment when advising and assisting managers in handling coaching, counseling, and disciplinary issues. Escalate as necessary to Director of HR.
- Stay up to date on state and federal employment laws to ensure compliance.
- Monitor and review policies, in conjunction with the Human Resource Committee, to ensure best practices and legal responsibilities are considered. Communicate policies to all staff.
- In concert with our various providers, respond to and assist employees in their requests for FMLA and other leaves.
- Other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time position based in Boston, MA. Boston Trust Walden is currently operating in a hybrid manner with a mix of in office and remote work. Specifics are dependent upon team and should be discussed with the hiring manager.
