Project Manager
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Manager (PM) - Management Information Systems (MIS), reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), will work with areas across the entire organization of Whitney Young Health (WYH). The PM at will be in charge of schedules, budgets, resources and project deliverables and will deliver business results by ensuring adherence to project management best practices and by monitoring teams to ensure project goals and objectives are met. A key function of this role is to possess keen knowledge of the larger landscape without neglecting granular details while tracking project health, staying alert for risk and resolving issues as they arise. The PM will maintain standards, monitor project scope and quality requirements as well as effectively facilitate groups of people across the organization in both learning and problem-solving environments in order to inspire learning and excitement about growing a continuous improvement culture within WYH.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with key stakeholders to understand the business needs, and create a project management plan that aligns with the company’s mission, strategic and operational objectives, commitments and goals
- Develop and complete project discovery documents to ensure thorough understanding and development of project scope and objectives
- Partner with stakeholders to finalize project, scope and budget
- Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
- Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
- Track project costs in order to meet budget
- Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
- Manage project-related risks and issues. Identify risk and work with stakeholders to minimize impact of risk and to resolve issues.
- Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, risks, adjustments, and progress
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
- Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
- Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
- Implements change practices.
- Consult with colleagues to help them effectively manage their projects and align project and portfolio planning and management processes, standards, methodologies, tools, and templates with resource planning and best practices
- Coach colleagues on effective project management techniques and tools.
- Support interdisciplinary workgroups under the Quality Improvement Committee and Super User Work Group in planning, analyzing, and executing specific business and clinical processes to achieve and sustain successful process improvements in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
- Foster partnerships with customers, stakeholders and sponsors
- Collaborate with work teams and departments to maximize resources and ensure that program needs are met.
- Demonstrates excellence in both internal and external customer service.
- Understands and is able to effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality.
- Ensures and/or remains in compliance with local, state, and federal regulation, i.e. DHHS HRSA and NYSDOH, and all accreditation standards (e.g. Joint Commission and NCQA-PCMH).
- Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission and Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, healthcare administration, business, or a related field
- 3-5 years of project management experience
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Experience with one or more of the following process improvement concepts: PDSA, CQI, Rapid Cycle Improvement, Lean Six Sigma and/or High Reliability Organization.
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
- Proficiency with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Proven ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts creatively and constructively.
- Must possess the following: Excellent analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills; be extremely resourceful; ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team; strong written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; strong organizational skills; strong Leadership skills.
- Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Project Management experience in a healthcare and/or IT organization
