Director, Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research
OVERVIEW
The Director of Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) develops and implements the Company's payer-focused evidence generation and communication strategy to ensure access to its investigational and marketed products in select regions. This is a key role for an individual experienced in payer evidence and real-world evidence, with a focus on HTA/payer needs. The individual will have a strong health economics background who is comfortable working cross functionally at a senior level, specifically with R&D, Medical and Commercial Market Access teams. The individual will collaborate both within the company and externally to lead, design and execute HEOR studies.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement the Global HEOR strategic plan to address select country specific HTA/payer needs for assigned investigational and marketed products.
- Contribute to the design, endpoint selection, reporting and analysis of clinical studies, ensuring appropriate focus on patient reported and HEOR outcomes to address HTA/payer needs.
- Design and oversee the conduct of high quality and scientifically rigorous health economic, observational, epidemiologic, and registry studies to support patient access and HTA/payer reimbursement requirements.
- Design and execute strategically aligned analyses such as burden of illness, real-world clinical and economic outcomes (e.g., cost-effectiveness analyses), patient reported outcomes, quality of care, retrospective database analyses, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.
- Develop HEOR publications for dissemination in appropriate peer review journals and scientific conferences, in alignment with the global strategic publication plan.
- Develop and maintain pre-approval information exchange dossiers, core value dossiers and core economic models to address country specific HTA reimbursement needs.
- Lead the preparation for and coordination of HTA/payer advice engagements.
- Establish and manage a global network of payer-key opinion leaders, consultants, and vendors to execute planned HEOR deliverables.
- Actively monitor the changing healthcare landscape to identify emerging global clinical and health economic trends.
- Integrate Global and US HEOR perspectives into the core medical, brand, and development plans.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Doctoral degree in a health sciences-related field (e.g., Pharm.D., M.D., or Ph.D.), with consideration for MPH or other advanced degree Health Economics or Epidemiology coupled with relevant industry experience.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry with at least 5 years' experience in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology or Health Policy.
- Demonstrated expertise in global HTA/payer reimbursement and market access requirements; Specific experience in the US market and with HTA submissions in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
- Experiences with Latin America, Canada and Australia are preferred.
- Transplant (e.g., solid organ, hematopoietic stem cell transplant), hospital-based or specialty care therapeutic area experience is preferred.
