Groundskeeper, Facilities Management and Planning
The University of Nebraska at Kearney Facilities Management and Planning is seeking a Groundskeeper.
Brief Summary of Job Description
Assist in the planning and maintenance of landscaping projects and grounds maintenance at University Village south of Highway 30.
Job Duties
Daily activities require the maintenance and operation of various tools and equipment associated with a commercial grounds and landscaping operation. Duties also include the proper care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, turf areas, flower beds, irrigation equipment, and hardscape. Responsibilities also include the performance of work in accordance with established safety procedures, the estimation of time and material costs on landscaping projects, the requisitioning of supplies and equipment, as well as snow and ice removal. Must be able to work independently.
Required Qualifications
High School Graduate or GED. Valid Nebraska driver’s license (within 6 months of hire). Working knowledge of equipment and job functions of a commercial landscaping and grounds operation. Good oral, writing and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years’ experience in a commercial landscape operation. Previous experience with the installation and maintenance of Toro irrigation systems. Previous experience with the maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles associated with a commercial grounds operation. Nebraska pesticide applicator certification.
Physical Demands
Physical demands of the position are heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, climbing, and bending flexibility. Must be able to work safely in varying temperature extremes since most work will occur outdoors.
Schedule Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm, 40 hours
