The University of Virginia seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and experienced fundraising professional to fill the role of Assistant or Associate Director of Development, University Priorities. Reporting to the Director of Development, University Priorities, the Assistant or Associate Director will generate philanthropic support for top fundraising priorities for the University as part of the Honor the Future campaign. The Assistant or Associate Director will play a key role in fundraising for and helping realize the goals and initiatives laid out in President Ryan's 2030 strategic plan for the University.
Responsibilities:

Build and manage a portfolio of current and prospective major-gift level donors ($100K+) and move them towards giving levels that achieve annual and long-range fundraising goals of the University.

Create personalized strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals within their portfolio.

Work with the Director of Development to execute a strategic fundraising plan with short- and long-range goals to the expand the donor base.

Collaborate with other fundraisers in the department and across the University in overall relationship building of alumni, parents and friends to ensure a coordinated approach for prospects and donors and to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation plans.

Work with and provide guidance to University leaders, faculty members, and volunteers on cultivation and solicitation strategies for prospective donors.

When permitted, travel nationally to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for the University's fundraising priorities.

Manage and appropriately document prospect contacts, solicitations, and proposals.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree with at least three years of experience is required.

To be considered at the Assistant Level must have three years of relevant experience.

To be considered at the Associate Level must have five years of relevant experience.

Ability to frequently travel domestically with occasional evening and weekend work.

Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in non-profit or higher education fundraising, sales, or managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals.

Track record of demonstrating a high degree of initiative, flexibility, and the skills to shape and be shaped by an evolving fundraising initiative.

Exceptional communication skills, a high degree of personal integrity, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate, and work effectively with diverse constituents.

Experience using data to evaluate and plan.
