Systems Administrator – Client Systems
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking a Systems Administrator who is interested in developing and maintaining the tools used by Health Care Information Systems to deliver an efficient, reliable, secure, and innovative computing experience for UI Health Care.

A successful candidate will be able to:
- Identify and solve complex and novel desktop computing problems in a way that is supportable and sustainable using established central management tools and techniques.
- This individual will assist the team in performing routine maintenance tasks on infrastructure tools and client endpoints and will work closely with team members to identify issues and opportunities to increase the efficiency of our services.
The Systems Administrator:
- Provides tools for managing secure, reliable, and supportable computing solutions.
- Develop centrally managed products, services, and applications for deployment.
- Aid in managing over 20,000 client devices throughout UI Health Care utilizing endpoint management technology.
- Develop and support desktop computer hardware integration and validation including software packages, drivers and attached devices and automated OS deployments.
- Continue to develop and maintain centralized client management proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Configuration Manager and JAMF Pro.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
Experience Requirements:
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems related to client OSes with a demonstrated progression in the level of complexity of the problems resolved.
- 3-5 years of experience providing tier-3 level support of desktop computer systems in an enterprise-level IT organization.
- Ability to document procedural information for technical and non-technical consumption.
- 3-5 years of experience developing solutions in a modern programming or scripting language.
- The ability to interpret incident trends, draw conclusions, propose solutions, and assist with their implementation.
- Time management skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience configuring and packaging software for deployment
• 3-5 years of experience configuring and maintaining Windows and Macintosh OSes in an enterprise environment
• Experience with the ITIL framework and change management
• 3-5 years of experience configuring and maintaining desktop computer hardware
