Celebrating 75 years in business, Universal Metal Products, Inc. specializes in custom metal forming, serving customers globally in the appliance, transportation, and industrial markets. We are strategically located in three US locations with over 100 forming machines. We provide tooling design, value-added assembly, heat treat and finishing operations.
We have an immediate need for a Quality Control Engineer to join our team in Pemberville, Ohio!
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the development of instructions and/or procedures for inspection, testing and evaluation.
- Assist with determining sampling procedures.
- Assist with developing programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production and processing equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical facilities.
- Conduct training programs
- Investigate practices, procedures, and perform internal quality systems audits to determine quality standards and whether these standards are being met.
- Recommend and work with management in appropriate disposition method for non-conforming product.
- Assist in implementation and maintenance of a quality system that complies with IATF/ISO requirements.
- Implement corrective actions as needed and maintain databases. Communicate quality systems progress and objectives to company personnel. May train or arrange training for personnel in the development of quality methods and procedures.
- Handle variety of customer issues related to Quality issues. May occasionally make on-site customer visit to resolve issue(s).
- Maintain gage calibration system
- Assist with, or perform, first piece, in-process, final, last part, and receiving inspections as required
- Prepare and submit FPA / PPAP packages
- Perform and report product dimensional lay outs
Qualifications for the role:
- Experience in word processing software, spreadsheet software, ability to use the Internet and e-mail
- Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and manage and complete multiple tasks
- Good communication and conflict resolution skills required (customer contact).
- Experienced in use of various measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges). Able to read drawings and blueprints also needed.
- Strong math aptitude also needed.
- Specialized Training: should have (or work towards) CMI certification through ASQ.
- Should work towards attaining CQT within three years of placement in this position (or have five years equivalent experience in Quality Control Management or lead person role).
