Assistant Professor
The UGA Department of Dance invites applications for a 9-month Assistant Professor tenure-track faculty position beginning August 1, 2022 who will have professional expertise in Contemporary Dance (broadly defined) and Aerial Dance. Additional areas of preferred competence include Laban Movement Analysis, Dance Composition, Improvisation, and Dance Technology/Digital Dance, but other areas of expertise that contribute to the dance major are welcomed.
Competitive applicants will have a background in directing dance concerts and/or alternative performances. Committee assignments and other administrative duties are expected. Additional responsibilities may include academic advising, supervision of dance production courses, choreographing for mainstage productions, and others as assigned. The University of Georgia is a leading research university, and tenure track faculty are expected to develop a creative and/or scholarly research program that will lead to regional, national, and/or international prominence. A Terminal Degree (MFA or PhD degree) in Dance or related field along with two years prior teaching experience at the university or professional level is required. Competitive applicants will demonstrate engagement in creative activity and/or scholarly research.
