The Senior Associate General Counsel for Litigation, Insurance and Risk Management, General Healthcare and Regulatory Matters, working in close collaboration with University constituents and the administration, will be responsible for providing legal advice regarding all litigation matters, insurance and risk management, general healthcare and regulatory matters. This attorney will focus on leading complex litigation matters including working with external counsel, and senior management as appropriate, in the development of legal strategies and negotiating resolution when necessary, assist senior management with insurance and risk management issues and advise on or lead complex insurance coverage analysis and claims, general healthcare matters, including HIPAA, Medical Staff/Patient Care Issues, False Claims Act compliance, Peer Review, EMTALA, Graduate Medical Education and government investigations and regulatory matters, including biosafety, federal select agent program, animal welfare matters, environmental matters, and anti-retaliation matters. Review, draft and advise on contracts, other transactional matters and policies/procedures. The position requires a collaborative, detail-oriented and deadline driven person with excellent written, analytical and verbal communication skills, as well as relevant and deep legal knowledge and experience. He/she will proactively anticipate and identify legal issues of concern and develop strategies to mitigate legal risk to protect the organization from undue legal exposure, liability and financial loss, all the while counseling and working to facilitate the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.
