As part of the Research Services team for Special Collections, the Research Services Library Associate is responsible for developing and overseeing practices and procedures that contribute to the physical control of rare-printed materials in the division. Under the direction of the Head of Research Services, the incumbent will develop, document, and implement workflows and procedures for managing incoming print acquisitions, maintaining printed materials stacks, and tracking movement of materials to and from the reading room. The Library Associate plans, coordinates, and conducts inventories and shifting projects for print materials; retrieves and shelves print materials; and creates, maintains, and update holdings and item records as needed. The incumbent hires, trains and supervises student employees to support this work. The Research Services Library Associate provides remote and in-person reference assistance, responding to routine queries from staff and researchers and referring complex queries to reference librarians and curators as appropriate. In collaboration with division staff, the incumbent coordinates stacks maintenance efforts with Campus Facilities. The incumbent contributes to developing reference procedures, polices, and workflows; collaborates with the Head of Research Services and Research Services team to promote collections via social media, programming and exhibits; contributes to divisional goals and initiatives; and completes other duties as assigned.
