The Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is seeking applications for the role of Pre-Award Grants Management Specialist (GMS) in the Department of Social, Behavioral and Population Sciences (SBPS), and report to the Senior Department Administration II. This position will transition to the future Office of Research Development and Administration (ORDA), where they will then report to the ORDA Director. The Pre-Award GMS will be responsible for managing grants submissions, engaging in all pre-award activities, and provide other pre-award support for faculty.
Pre-Award duties include:
- Maintain a calendar of upcoming grant submissions and due dates.
- Manage the submission of grant applications for faculty members from beginning to end (review the FOA, determine submission requirements, develop a timeline with the faculty member for turning in application components).
- Assist with drafting and editing grant application sections (e.g., facilities and resources statement, budget justification, biosketches, letters of support, consortium arrangements)
- Serve as a liaison for subawards and consultants, collect required internal and agency required documents (e.g., scope of work, letters of intent, letters of support, consortium budget and justification).
- Develop budgets with faculty.
- Confirm personnel effort available for the proposed project, and resolve any issues regarding IDC (e.g., waivers, reduced rates) and cost share issues.
- Oversee grant transfers and grant relinquishments.
- Prepare administrative forms.
- Oversee conflict of interests in proposal development and routing.
- Ensure that all formatting requirements and sponsor guidelines are met.
- Collect all required application components and ensure that the application is submitted in time.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of Just-in-Time information (e.g., Other Support information for all key personnel).
- Maintain a schedule of due dates for progress reports, assemble and submit progress reports, and ensure their timely submission.
- Coordinate the establishment of subcontracts and submission of final reports.
