- Responsibilities:
- Works under the direction of the facilities administration and service line partners focused on the development and implementation of operational tactics driven from the oncology strategic plan.
- Establishes and managers relationships with physicians to improve processes and drive health outcomes.
- Monitors and manages oncology operations performance including disease site specific volume, quality metrics, physician relations, and patient satisfaction.
- Provides administrative direction for the operations of the oncology service line and appraises the performance of respective department leadership. Provides support and direction to other cancer related services including Nursing, Operating Room, Endoscopy, Imaging, and the Breast Center.
- Directs and manages the development of new programs and/or services.
- Participates in, and or manages assigned disease specific workgroups and cancer governance councils.
- Administratively guides cancer committee meetings, tumor board conferences, and cancer program administrative meetings, as appropriate.
- Demonstrates problem solving approaches and responds to questions, concerns, issues in a timely manner. Identifies new areas for partnership/collaboration and relationship development.
- Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with key representatives of Tulane Health System, including but not limited to: Executive leadership, Administrators with operational responsibility, other program managers and colleagues, Oncology Program Managers, Vice Presidents, Medical Directors, relevant physicians, Marketing Director.
- Assures implementation of established guidelines, policies and procedures. Works with staff and physicians in creating and implementing objectives for the provision of safe and effective patient care. Evaluates effectiveness of policies and procedures and make recommendations for change. Identifies and recommends opportunities to impact performance trends favorably (staffing level optimization, overtime etc.) and implements approved action plans to ensure optimum performance.
- Works with Sarah Cannon corporate and Parallon to ensure completeness and comprehensiveness for cancer registry and cancer accreditation requirements.
- Ensures highest levels of client satisfaction; proactively resolves any potential client/partner/oncologist issues.
- Ensures regulatory compliance; monitors changes in applicable laws and regulations (DPH, ACR and/or other governing bodies), compliance with quality and safety programs; ensures the highest standards of patient care.
- Maintains knowledge of health care trends in academic and community oncology settings and keeps current with oncology standards of patient care through journals, articles, conferences, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred in Health Administration, Business Administration or other related field from an accredited university.
- Requires a minimum of six (6) years of progressive healthcare facility leadership experience, preferably in an oncology setting. Emphasis on service line development, physician arrangements, and outreach skills a must.
