Accountant
Full-time, year-round + excellent benefit package. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline required plus minimum of two years’ experience as an accountant or bookkeeper.
Job Overview: Provides a variety of routine and complex clerical, administrative and accounting work in the administration of the town government. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and other departments, officials and the public.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing customer service to citizens, guests, town staff, Mayor, and public officials.
- Responsible for monthly bank reconciliation of all town checking/investment accounts.
- Responsible for maintaining sales tax and business tax database and associated reports.
- Administers short term lodging regulations, licensing, and enforcement.
- Responsible for Accounts Receivable including collection of water and sewer, short term rental, business license, sales tax, and lodging tax payments.
- Assists Finance Director with monthly financials and annual audit as needed.
- Assists Administrative staff and cross trains within the department as necessary.
- All other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used: Telephone switchboard, personal computer, MS Office word processing and spreadsheet software, accounting software, printer, typewriter, 10-key calculator, fax machine, copy machine, postage machine, audio recorder, and motor vehicle.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline required. Two or more years of experience as an accountant or bookkeeper. Works responsibly and independently; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and skills in operation of listed equipment. Working experience in local government a plus.
