ABOUT THIS POSITION - The Town of Basalt is accepting applications for a Plans Examiner and Inspector. This exciting opportunity is one of two positions within our building department. This position is an important part of the Town’s building, planning and development services team and is responsible for reviewing and processing building permit applications and associated plans for compliance with applicable building and zoning codes, performs inspection of building and site construction, and coordinates with other town departments, outside review agencies, and applicant representatives. The successful candidate possesses a team-oriented, collaborative and organized working style, with excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain positive relationships, and responsiveness to the community.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in a construction-related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience. ICC Certifications (Building Official; Plans Examiner – Residential and Commercial, and Building Inspector- Residential and Commercial) required within six months of hire.

The hiring range for the Plans Examiner and Inspector is $79,600 - $115,400 with salary commensurate to experience. This is a non-exempt position. The Town has some Town-owned apartments that may be available to the successful candidate.
