Systems Administrator – Deployment & Automation
Position will be filled as either a Senior Systems Administrator or Systems Administrator based on candidate qualifications and interview evaluation. To be considered for different job classification levels, candidate must apply for each position interested in.
Position Summary:
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator. The Deployment and Automation Administrator will drive automation, build, hardening, and configuration of OS images and templates. Additionally, the administrator will manage the monitoring and alerting systems. The position requires an individual who has demonstrated technical skills with ESX, Windows and Linux operating systems running on physical as well as virtual environments. The administrator will lead extensive automation and scripting efforts while working with other groups in IT and across the enterprise. The individual will be challenged to always look for improving processes.

Salary: $55,000 to commensurate – 4B

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
Experience Requirements
• Experience, typically 3-5 years of experience in IT systems infrastructure development.
• Experience with the installation of Operating systems (ESX, Microsoft Server and Linux)
• Demonstrated ability to assist in a portfolio of projects with organizational effectiveness, within timelines and budgets
• Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and strong interpersonal skills
Highly Desired Qualifications
• Experience writing automation scripts in any language (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ruby, REST API, Perl and/or others.)
• Knowledge of configuration management technologies (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Dell Open Manage Enterprise, vRealize, NAGIOS and Splunk)
Desired Qualifications
• Working knowledge of VMware hypervisor environments and day to day management of vCenter
• Understanding of security hardening policies according to best practice, vulnerability scanning and remediation with tools such as FireEye HX, Rapid7 and McAfee AV
• Experience in installation, maintenance, upgrade, configuration, problem resolution and performance tuning of WDS, SCOM and Dell Open Manage Enterprise
• Familiar with Cloud service providers such as Microsoft Azure and AWS
• Practical experience with Microsoft Windows virtual machine deployment via templates
• IT industry certifications are preferred, specifically Microsoft, AWS, and VMware
