New Product Development Project Manager

Your Role:
At Great Plains Laboratory, the New Product Development Project Manager is responsible for the successful management and execution of new custom assays from idea through full-production launch by leading cross-functional teams comprised of R&D, Operations, Regulatory & Quality, IT, Marketing, Sales, and Finance. The position reports to GPL's Chief Scientific Officer (CSO).
Specific job duties:
- Leading cross-functional teams that are responsible for launching new Lab-Developed-Tests (LDTs) / diagnostic assay.
- The Project Manager will lead the creation of project plans (supported by functional managers), track progress (including scope, budgets, timelines, resourcing) and direct the cross-functional teams to achieve a successful launch of the assay.
- In collaboration with functional department leaders, identify and manage external partners when needed to accelerate product launch timelines or improve success rates.
- Actively evaluating project for opportunities to improve performance; continuously monitoring risk and mitigating as appropriate.
- Providing routine direction, clarification of objectives and guidance to team members in the execution of the Project and building key relationships with team members, customers and suppliers as needed to execute the Projects.
- Regularly communicates with Senior Management (CEO, CSO, COO, CFO, IT, Marketing, Sales) on project status, timelines, blockers, and overall health of each project.
- Escalating cross-functional support issues on Projects when necessary.
- Interacts with Senior Management to understand work product, competition, state of the art assays, cost efficiencies, and regulatory environment.

Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biology, or other Life Science discipline Or Marketing, Business Administration, or other Business discipline
- Experienced Project Manager (minimum 2 years)
- Proficient with standard Project Management applications and templates
- Read, write and speak fluent English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Clinical Chemistry Technology including ELISA, Luminex, Mass Spectrometry, Clinical Chemistry Analyzers.
- Master's Degree
- Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, etc.)
- Understanding of department functions/roles and project timing
- Knowledge of and experience with CLIA, CAP, GLP and/or other relevant quality, regulatory and safety systems.
- Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal skills
- Excellent organizational, decision making and negotiation skills
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Goal and quality driven, strong motivator of people to drive toward desired results within a set timeframe
- 2+ years industrial experience in custom laboratory chemistry, pharmaceutical, biotech, or fine chemical industry
