POSITION DESCRIPTION: The GOD'S CHILD Project has an excellent opportunity for a Development Officer in our Golden Valley, Minnesota office. The primary focus of this role is to raise funds to support GCP and will also work as a team member helping to drive interest for our charity work and enlist groups for our international volunteer ServiceTeams.
The successful candidate for this position is excited by the challenges of not-for-profit fund-raising, multi-tasking, and developing new and existing donor relationships.
This is a full-time position, which may include occasional evening or weekend meetings.
Requirements:
- Identify and engage with new and potential donors, both individual and organizational
- Increase annual giving of existing donors
- Arrange eight (minimum) monthly face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors to discuss programs and request financial support
- Attain assigned fundraising targets and meet metrics
- Develop, coordinate, and direct marketing/outreach activities that will raise awareness of GCP programs through involvement with service organizations, schools, churches, businesses, etc.
- Participate in ongoing communication (i.e. thank you notes, calls, emails, etc.)
- Grow the mailing list by prospecting with new and existing donors
- Identify potential opportunities for GCP executive leadership speaking engagements
- Be technology friendly and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- Record all donor and prospect interactions in Salesforce
- Be able to problem-solve and use creativity to organize solutions and outcomes
- Have the ability to stay organized and follow through on tasks and goals
- Keep accurate records of projects and activities
- Be open to constructive feedback and instruction
- Work in a team environment as well as independently
- Demonstrate professional presence and appearance
- Possess a desire to improve the lives of impoverished children and their families by giving them the opportunity to overcome difficult circumstances (such as severe malnutrition, illiteracy, homelessness, illness, etc.) using honesty and a positive attitude
