Administrative Assistant
Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources.
This work unit exists to direct and implement a variety of outdoor recreation programs and activities, while managing and protecting the natural resources and man-made facilities at Stagecoach State Park. The park provides a safe and quality recreational experience to nearly 200,000 visitors per year along with a wide range of appropriate recreational and educational opportunities. This is balanced with the need to protect and enhance the facilities and natural resources of the area by providing visitor services, maintenance functions, natural resource protection and education, administration functions, law enforcement, inter-agency cooperation, and program development. The work unit administers state park programs within the area, and provides recreation and natural resource management expertise to federal, state,county, local and private enterprises.
Description of Job
Manages visitor center sales of passes, permits, licenses, registrations and retail items, to include maintaining displays, monitoring and ordering inventories, completing and submitting monthly reports to the park manager, accounting, and training other employees to assist with these programs.
Office Management:
Manages the park’s automated public information systems to include the phone answering system, press releases, brochures, updating parks web site and conditions pages, and Facebook page to provide accurate information and promote visitation. Assists the park manager with special projects such as processing short-term concession permits, organizing management plans, or sending requested documents to other agencies. This position also tracks orders and stocks appropriate office supplies for staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
At least three years of general clerical experience, at least 1 year of experience MUST have included experience providing direct information/customer service in a high-volume administrative support role OR through related current/former CPW work or volunteer experience.
General clerical duties are described as: the accurate and timely completion and processing of documents and information; scheduling; reception and intake; record keeping and maintenance; meeting arrangements; typing and word processing; gathering, coding, computing, entering, verifying, and reporting data and information; information release; screening documents and supporting information to determine eligibility, authenticity, or identity; issuing, including selling, documents. (This information must be specifically noted within your application).
NOTE: Retail or food service customer service is not in an office support environment and will not be given credit toward the minimum requirements.
Substitutions:
Education will be accepted as a substitute for general clerical experience but not for the specific experience stated in the minimum qualifications. If education is substituting for experience you must provide a copy of your education-related transcripts (official or unofficial) for verification upon request.

- High proficiency interpreting and explaining rules/regulations.
- Proficiency in the use of Google email, Google docs, databases, the use of electronic licensing system(s).
- Prior Colorado Parks and Wildlife work or volunteer experience is considered.
Conditions of Employment:
- Effective September 20, 2021, employees and new hires will be required to attest to and verify that they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (requires proof of vaccination), or, submit to twice-weekly serial testing. Details of testing to be provided during the onboarding process. Note: Fully Vaccinated means two (2) weeks after a second dose in a two-dose series of the COVID-19 vaccine, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two (2) weeks after the single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine, as defined by the State of Colorado’s Public Health Order and guidance issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment.
- Colorado residency is required at the time of application.
- Former employees of the State of Colorado MUST have concluded employment in good standing to be eligible for rehire.
- A current & valid Driver's license or reliable transportation for occasional off-site travel, meetings and trainings.
- Trainings and associated duties may require some travel and overnight stays.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and/or drug screening.
- Weekend and holiday work may be required.
