Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst
St. Tammany Parish Mosquito Abatement District seeks to hire a full-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst. The primary responsibilities are to manage geographic data collection, automating map-based reports, and remote sensing projects to enhance various aspects of mosquito control operations.

Job duties include:
• Research, design, and maintenance of all geographic data collection systems that the district
uses both hardware and software.
• Creates and maintains custom data collection forms.
• Creates logistical efficiencies in mosquito control operations using GIS software (e.g. performs
routing procedures for routine activities such as mosquito trapping).
• Produces novel maps as needed to describe various aspects of mosquito control operations via
geographic data.
• Performs or oversees outside contracts for remote sensing projects such as LiDAR, multispectral
image analysis, and predictive spatial analysis of mosquito populations.
• Produces and maintains a system to produce automated maps reporting mosquito populations,
resident’s calls for service, amount of pesticides applied, or any other routinely reported data
source to support mosquito control decision making or reporting.
• Coordinates map and table-based reporting systems with timely reports to aid the Field
Supervisor with labor and pesticide resource allocation.
• Assists research staff and staff entomologists with map-based planning and reporting of various
research projects.
• Trains staff in the proper collection of geographic data and in GIS procedures.
• Coordinate larvicide control operations in septic roadside ditches by communicating with
larviciders and updating maps.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
• Maintain a culture and attitude of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism.
• Maintain LDAF Licenses for applying mosquito control insecticides.
• Assist with training new field staff.
• Assist the Education/Outreach Specialist to represent STPMAD at community events.
• Assist the laboratory staff in performing quality control tests and special research projects.
• Present information for technical and education programs in both written and oral forms.
