Advertisement St. Catherine University and the Office of the Provost invite applications for the position of System Specialist, Degree Works.
The Office of the Registrar is critical to providing a seamless experience for traditional, graduate, and adult students from a wide range of backgrounds. The System Specialist, Degree Works shares responsibilities with the Systems Specialist, Transfer Equivalency to scribe (Degree Works programming language) Degree Works (online degree evaluation software) to ensure that it accurately evaluates all major, minor, prerequisite, required supporting, and liberal art and science core requirements for all credentials offered by St. Catherine University.
Responsibilities are to:
- Administer the Degree Works software, which includes managing user permissions, testing upgrades, troubleshooting errors, and other administrative responsibilities to meet institutional needs.
- Be the liaison between the Registrar’s Office and I.T. for all Degree Works-related functions and work with I.T. to troubleshoot and create solutions to problems that arise.
- Provide backup for evaluating and posting transfer course data in the Transfer Evaluation System (TES), processing change of major and minor forms, and troubleshooting records that suspend when the Nolij transfer process is run.
- Evaluate and process pre-approval transfer forms and process Global Studies, independent study, and directed study registrations.
- Monitor and manage “end of term” processes.
- Enter substitutions and other exceptions in Degree Works as approved by the department chair, division chair, or program director.
- Scribe all credentials offered by the University in Degree Works software, special major, ACTC major, and minor curriculum.
- Assist in the creation of plans for incoming undergraduate students.
- Update Banner records for students canceling or deferring their admission, investigating records, managing suspends, working with faculty to confirm attendance, and assisting faculty with attendance reporting.
- Process global studies credit memos and registration, independent study and directed study registrations, pre-approval transfer petition to transfer for CFA students, and other miscellaneous special registrations.
- Manage End of Term Processes (Grade Roll/Repeat Report).
- Test Banner upgrades and new modules.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in working with shared database
- Basic level of programming language knowledge or Degree Works scribe skills
- Demonstrated ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families, and communities
AND EITHER:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years experience in a position using a complex database tool and executing basic programming functions
OR:
- Six (6) years of professional experience that includes using a complex database tool and executing basic programming functions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education environment
- Transfer course evaluation and processing experience
- Experience using Banner and Degree Works as a Scribe
- Degree plan evaluation experience
