Independent Living Specialist
The Southwestern Center for Independent Living (SWCIL) is seeking a full-time Independent Living (IL) Specialist working in communities in Southwest Minnesota. This position works to promote societal acceptance, inclusion, and equal access by empowering individuals with disabilities with IL resources and services.
Primary job functions include: providing IL skills training, advocacy assistance, career consultation, and peer counseling services to youth in schools and adults in the community.
Requirements: Must be able to work independently, have knowledge of disabilities and their characteristics, reliable transportation, and pass a DHS background study. Persons with disabilities are strongly urged to apply.
Minimum qualifications:
* Four-year degree in a human/social services or related field or
* Two year degree in a human/social services field combined with one year of experience in a disability related position.
Educational requirements may be substituted by experience with disabilities/disability services. Remote officing option but must reside in SW MN to provide services in local communities. PTO & competitive benefits.
