Overview
This position shall perform general materials management functions in support of Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline's work sites including, but not limited to receiving, inspection, storage, handling, shipping, expediting, and preparing of products for delivery while maintaining the warehouse in a safe and orderly manner. The Technician, Materials Management shall communicate daily with Southern Star office, field personnel, and external suppliers to resolve material related deficiencies and ensure customer satisfaction. Employee will use financial systems and maintain electronic and paper files and records.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Master Data Management
- Providing material master data setup, validations, and periodic maintenance
- Ensuring data quality, compliance, and consistency of material master data across business systems
- Working with business units and process experts to resolve master data issues
Warehousing
- Ensuring warehouse facility is free of any unsafe working conditions
- Receiving, storing, and issuing equipment, materials, and supplies
- Checking delivered items against purchase orders and invoices for accuracy and relevancy
- Ensuring security of stored goods and supplies
- Assisting in planning schedules for material deliveries
- Assisting purchasing as requested in contacting vendors regarding variances toward quantity, quality and delivery of materials, receipts for delivery of goods and ensuring accuracy in delivery
- Examining incoming shipments, reject damaged items. Appropriately report/record any discrepancies
- Accurately placing materials on shelves, in racks, or other designated storage areas in an orderly manner and in accordance with approved storage and preservation requirements
- Entering data into computer programs as required
- Assisting warehouse personnel in solving problems regarding identification of merchandise
- Assembling and filling orders to be shipped to customers
- Preparing all shipping documentation
- Reviewing all orders to determine if they were picked correctly
- Coordinating the transportation and delivery of materials and services to Company work sites to ensure on-time delivery for effective and efficient operations
- Ensuring warehouse/equipment is maintained on a regular basis
- Operating forklifts safely and efficiently, following all OSHA safety regulations, and performing vehicle safety checks
Physical Inventory
- Performing annual inventory of all stores
- Accurately identifying and counting stock materials as listed on the cycle count list
- Identifying and fixing inventory count variances
General
- Maintain daily communication with office, field personnel, and external suppliers to identify needs and ensure customer satisfaction
- Use financial systems and maintain electronic and paper files and records per the Company's Business Records Retention and Destruction Policy
- Ensure the adherence to Company and departmental policies and procedures
- Ensure overall efficient and timely flow of service
- Actively participate and/or lead intradepartmental teams to improve processes, product specifications, and to achieve Company initiatives
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Entry-level to 3 years of experience in an industrial warehouse in receiving, inspecting, storage, handling, and issuing materials, equipment, supplies, including operation of material handling equipment
- Strong customer service and communications skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage conflict
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint), or related software
- Ability to learn and use different computer applications
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Accounting, or relevant subject
- Knowledge of oil and gas and/or construction related products
- Experience with Oracle applications
Physical Requirements:
- Able to move and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Able to withstand temperatures in a warehouse
- Position may require climbing of ladders
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Position spends 80% of time standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing
