The Senior PV System Modeling Engineer will oversee the day-to-day PV System modeling requirements during RFP, Design, Construction, and Commissioning.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
- Stresses the importance that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working
- Provide excellence and consistency in the management and delivery of the project, in-line with the client's expectations
- Works to create a culture of continuous improvement
- Succession planning for operational group
- Assist Performance and Engineering Team in day-to-day coordination during RFP, design, contract and commissioning phases of EPC projects
- Act as subject matter expert for production modeling within the company
- Create and maintain accurate system performance models in PVSyst
- Validate performance modeling tools and assumptions through data analysis, field experiments, and other research methods
- Verify project drawings including site plans, system layout, one lines, cable management, and equipment installation details
- Perform and track different simulation in the PVSyst
- Impacts of terrain
- Horizon losses
- Tree or external shading
- Work with outside engineering firms for the preparation of energy models based on provided electrical sets
- Develop and train internal engineers how to run PVSyst simulations
- Communicate modeling assumptions and performance metrics to estimators (internally facing) and clients/IEs (externally facing)
- Maintain clear and accurate operations documents/procedures for reference purposes
- Innovate, and solve challenging technical problems with a positive
Requirements:
- College degree in related technical field preferred.
- 2+ years' experience in data analytics, commissioning and testing of PV Power plants
- 3+ years' experience in using PVSyst, SAM, PlantPredict, and other PV system modeling software
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, and others
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times
- Familiar with various standards such as IEC 61724, ASTM 2848, IEC 61215, UL 1703, etc.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Office tools
- Ability to travel 20% of time
- Broad understanding of the Renewable Energy industry with emphasis on Service and Construction
- Foster a spirit of collaboration between teams

- Strong communication skills to clearly articulate vision into an executable plan
