Digital Media Specialist - Development
The Digital Media Specialist exists to support the faculty and administration with the development and implementation of innovative technologies within the community. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in ideation and research with tangible results, exhibits curiosity, has excellent problem-solving skills and an innate ability to deal with ambiguity. This position works specifically on the creation of dynamic multimedia, data-driven websites as well as web & mobile applications. The position needs the ability to take initiative and ownership, as well as work as part of a cross-functional team of UI/UX designers, web developers, graphic designers and multimedia experts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position requires the creative use of appropriate and innovative methods to develop effective multimedia projects (examples include both Mixed and Virtual Reality) using suitable formats and delivery mechanisms.
- This position also performs the tasks of creating, developing and maintaining cross-platform applications focused on Mobile Learning, Learning Analytics, and Virtual Assistants imbued with Artificial Intelligence for use by academic and administrative departments.
- The Digital Media Specialist will also be will be tasked with academic and technological investigation directed toward the acquisition of knowledge for new technologies and innovative processes in an effort to stay on the cutting edge of digital design, web development and multimedia production in higher education.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Media or related field
- 1-3 years of experience with Digital Media and multi-platform Application technologies
- An understanding of and demonstrated ability to build web and mobile cross-platform applications
- Development experience with HTML and HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. JQuery, PHP and XML or equivalent experience also strong preferred.
- Basic knowledge of A/V technologies including Virtual and Mixed Reality Equipment
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Digital Media or related field
- Working knowledge of Learning Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
- Experience with MySQL and ability to develop in a server-side environment with good scripting skills are preferred
- Ability and experience with training various skill levels on the use of digital media in teaching & learning
