Senior Director-Development
As Senior Director - Development, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the development department. The Senior Director - Development is responsible for major gift fundraising and directly supervises the Director of Annual Giving, Major Gifts Officer, and Donor Events Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Manages all strategies and activities for donor identification and cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
* Research and contacts new or potential individual donors
* Cultivates relationships with private and public funders to create meaningful connections between them and the Zoo's vision, mission, and programs
* Maintains and manages a portfolio of donors to create meaningful connections between them and the Zoo's vision, mission, and programs
* Maintain all moves management for assigned portfolio in the database
* Supervises Director of Annual Giving, Major Gifts Officer, and Donor Events Manager which includes the following programs and events: Wildlife Champions program, annual fund initiatives, Zoo Ball, Kids Zoo Ball, all donor events at the zoo
* Prepares and manages with other senior director the annual department budget including monthly reporting
* Assumes responsibility with vice president and senior director for all development reports to the Board and other agencies
* Attends community events related to donor cultivation
* Participates in outreach activities and performances outside regular business hours
Works with the President/CEO, Vice President of Development, Board, Development Committee, and Campaign Leadership Committee to implement fundraising strategies
Supports and assists the Development Committee in partnership with the Vice President of Development.
* Upholds all company policies and procedures.
* Consistently exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside the zoo, showing hospitality to all.
* Be fully committed to the mission of San Antonio Zoo to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward and the animals we protect.
Other Responsibilities:
Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree
CFRE preferred.
Five to seven years of demonstrated successful fundraising experience.
Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
Must adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate an empathetic disposition and perseverance, and convey sensitivity to the needs of donors.
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through, as demonstrated through effective project management experience.
Demonstrated writing and editing skills.
Outstanding ability to work effectively in teams of diverse people and organizations.
Experience working with a donor database, preferably Blackbaud products, as well as with Microsoft Excel.
Strong organizational, communications, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Highly self-motivated and directed.
Ability to accommodate occasional long days or overnight travel.
Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
