Certified Medical Assistant Instructor (9 months) $39,424 - $41,523 DOEE Closing Date: Monday, May 9, 2022 at 1pm The Certified Medical Assistant Instructor is responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes within an existing or future CAAHEP accredited medical assistant program. The instructor will provide the time and support necessary to instruct, evaluate, advise, and support students who enroll in the Medical Assistant program. The instructor may teach up to 15-credits per quarter, or 45-credits per academic year. Additional compensation may be earned through supplemental contracts associated with, but not limited to, additional instructional days beyond the employee's 9-month contract. Faculty roles include, but are not limited to, teaching, maintaining mandatory office hours, academic advising, student learning outcome assessment, and participation in assigned departmental activities, Faculty Inservice and professional development, employee meetings, and college committees. The position is not a remote designated position and is campus based at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, Mt.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, prepare and develop course materials such as course curriculum, assignments, textbook selection, syllabi and cultural lesson plans for both in class and on-line course delivery. Review and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction in accordance with SKC Mission, Vision, and Mission Objectives. Prepare and deliver instruction to students using multiple instructional methods to include lecture, class projects, group work, guest speakers, class presentations, and other appropriate strategies. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Evaluate the quality of student course work, medical office- and clinical-competencies, written assignments, projects and presentations. Collaborate with colleagues to design, enhance and improve teaching. Collaborate with department members to plan, implement, and participate in annual and long-term evaluation of the program (e.g., Annual Plan, Nuventive Improve, Program Review) and recruitment and retention activities. Establish and maintain six hours of scheduled office hours on campus. The Medical Assistant Instructor must be available to assist students in person, via email, and via phone with their academic and advising needs. Qualifications: Certificate of Completion or Associate Degree in Medical Assisting or a related healthcare field (e.g., nursing). Must be credentialed in medical assisting, be in good standing or be willing to obtain credentialing within one year of employment. One of the following credentials is required; CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT), CCMA (NHA) or CMAC (AMCA). Minimum of one year of work experience in a healthcare facility, including 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting, performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures performed by medical assistants. Must have the ability to interact effectively and courteously with culturally diverse groups. Formal teacher training and professional teaching experience is preferred. Must be able to teach/work a flexible schedule. Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Salish Kootenai College. Ability to work with American Indian populations.
