SKC in Western Montana offers an Associates Degree in Business Management and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. The coursework includes Introduction to Business, Technology in Business, Business Law, Planning and Marketing, Principles of Finance, Conflict Resolution, and many more Business course offerings. The Business Department is seeking a full-time faculty member to instruct courses in upper division Finance, Accounting, Tax courses and other Business courses. Related duties include student advising, participation in faculty in-service, development and review of curriculum, and collaboration with colleagues to address teaching and research issues. The SKC academic calendar is 9 months long (September June). SKC does have a 5-6 week break after the fall quarter and before the winter quarter. Western Montana offers ample recreational opportunities including boating, fishing, hiking, and skiing in the winter. SKC does offer a generous health insurance benefit valued at $650 per month for one individual and $1,150 per month for a family plan, year-round (12 months). Upon hire, all employees enroll in a mandatory retirement program contributing 6% with the institution contributing/matching 6%. There is also a life insurance benefit where employees can opt in and buy up for additional coverage. Voluntary vision and dental coverage is available at employee cost. Faculty may enroll in 6 credits per quarter at SKC at no charge (tuition free). In 2021, SKC paid $60,000 in course fee waivers for SKC employees supporting continued life long learning and personal engagement. General Summary: Faculty teach an average of 15 academic credits per quarter. The faculty plan, prepare and develop course materials such as syllabi, assignments, handouts and culturally relevant materials. The instructor facilitates and moderate's classroom discussions, grades student's course work and remains available to students in assigned office hours and or as needed. The Department manages faculty course loads in a manner that allows each instructor to fine tune, develop and enhance course materials. SKC is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
Minimum Qualifications: Master of Business Administration, or equivalent degree, is required with experience in finance. Experience in private business is helpful, and preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in Tribal college setting. Experience with teaching and ability to teach appropriate business courses to undergraduate students. The applicant must have the ability to work with individual from diverse backgrounds and the ability to communicate through written, spoken, and visual media. Must have the ability to work in team setting with multiple different groups and priorities. Ability to maintain office hours as directed by supervisor (this is not designated as a remote working position).
