Financial / Rates Analyst
We have an opening for a Financial/Rates Analyst at our headquarters in Fergus Falls.

For this role, we require a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field with two + years of experience. Professional certification not required but encouraged. An understanding of utility accounting and operations necessary to analyze and complete timely and accurate financial forecasts and revenue requirement calculations. Must be able to maintain and administer spreadsheets as well as the budget/forecast software. In addition, must be able to analyze and strategically think to effectively evaluate financial implications of business decisions and the impacts they have on revenues, expenses, and cash flows. This position also requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the FERC Uniform System of Accounts and be familiar with the Federal tax code.
Successful applicant will prepare and analyze actual and forecasted jurisdictional cost of service studies for use in strategic planning, rate making and decision-making processes. Administer financial software (Utilities International) used for preparing and analyzing cost of service studies including any applicable rider recovery tracker responsibilities. Provide analytical support as needed in the completion of financial statements and official company budgets. Will determine how to handle new accounting rules as they arise and determine overall utility returns for actual and forecast years as well as prepare exhibits, testimony and answer information requests.
