Summary:
To provide a positive patient experience while performing, high quality patient care to current and potential patients. The contribution of the Medical Assistant Level II to the clinic health care team insures optimal throughput of the patient across the health care delivery system.

1. > or equal to 2 years of clinical experience in the ambulatory setting.2. Specialized or Technical Education Required:High school diploma or equivalent,Completion of a Medical Assistant program and > or equal to 2 years of experience or has 5 years of MA experience in a clinic setting or Completion of a Medical Assistant program and a minimum of two years MA experience is required. Five years of MA experience in a clinic setting may be considered in lieu of program completion. Patient Care Technician with a minimum of two years’ Emergency Room experience and successful completion of an AMA program within one year of hire may also be considered. Maintain BLS certification.3. Manual or Physical Skill Required:Must be capable of assisting with the lifting and moving of patients. Must have knowledge and skill of proper body mechanics. Must be capable of prolonged standing and walking.4. Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant Level II will be able to demonstrate proficiency in all Medical Assistant I duties as well as additional specialize duties listed below.1. Obtain and appropriately documents authorization in the designated (auth/cert or referral) workqueue for required testing and/or referrals as required to ensure patients are provided with high quality health care and2. Able to adequately maintain the workqueues related to referrals and schedule order. The MA II will insure all testing that is canceled or rescheduled is completed per provider’s order or that he/she is actively communicating with patients and providers when testing is not completed as expected and the order updated appropriately (either canceled or expected date updated) and/or3. Assist provider(s) with scheduled specialized, in-office procedures as indicated on MA JD addendum (such as Botox, Essure, Cystoscope, Bladder installation, Balloon Sinuplasty and etc.) and/or4. Performs in-office procedures according to certification (such as Nerve Conduction Studies) or has obtained formal documented provider education (such as casting or Urodynamic Studies) with documented competency or5. Maintains full lab oversight within the clinic (POCT, in-office collections and processing) or6. Functions as an MA in a Walk In Clinic and/or7. Functions as MRO Assistant in the Occupational Health Clinic8. Manages and collaborates with providers on intake of clinical calls as well as result reporting and/or refill request or9. Maintains skills and is able to works side by side with the provider to ensure the patient face to face encounters are completed from intake to discharge or10. Serves as a preceptor, as requested or11. Serves as CT for EPIC training as requested12. Cleans and disinfects prior to discarding or forwarding to Sterile Services and/or disposes of equipment utilized with clinic specific procedures.13. Manages full in-basket functionality including assistance with provider’s in-basket completion related specifically to non-informational items such as result review, open charts, incomplete notes and open encounters.OTHER 1. Performs as a team member and serves on teams/committees as requested.2. May provide vaccine management including ordering and monitoring vaccine usage/wastage, facilitating the maintenance of the vaccines, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the CDC guidelines as well as standard protocol for immunization management as indicated by Louisiana Immunization Network, and completing reportable documentation as recommended by Louisiana Department of State Health Services.3. Assist physicians and other staff members, as needed.4. Issue physician’s excuse for school/work as directed by the provider.5. Communicate effectively by expressing ideas clearly, actively listening and always following appropriate channel of communication. Demonstrate responsiveness to others ensuring a complete follow up on matters requiring additional attention.6. Follow any other job related instructions and perform any other job related duties as requested by department management.7. Consistently attend monthly staff meetings.8. Follow associated North Oaks Health System and North Oaks Physician Group compliance programs and federal and state regulatory guidelines.9. Complete 10 hours of continuing education per year.10. Performs other duties within the scope of unlicensed personnel as assigned.
