POSITION OVERVIEW
NBME is recruiting for a Director of NBME's newly formed Assessment Alliance. The Director, NBME Assessment Alliance will serve a critical role in building and maintaining NBME's programs focused on facilitating productive and creative collaborations with innovators in health professions education, as well as those the assessment and educational technology fields. The Director will oversee the operations and relationship management of The Alliance and ensure focus on NBME's support of promising initiatives and productive collaborative solution development.
Initially, NBME's Assessment Alliance will include two types of programs; those designed to support collaborative networks across health professions schools and programs (NBME Creative Communities) and those focused on external funding support of innovators, health professions education experts and scientists to work with NBME (Assessment Innovation Grants). The first NBME Creative Community focused on Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) for Clinical Reasoning was recently announced.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a portfolio of strategically oriented collaborative relationships with external investigators, health professions education programs, and organizations
- Such collaborative programs will help to advance the strategic goals of building systems of assessment to support growth-oriented assessment for learning, while advancing diversity among learners and health care providers necessary to provide high-quality care to the diverse patient community.
- Serve as primary point of contact for relationships with external investigators and health professions education programs to optimize effective operations of the NBME Assessment Alliance program.
- Liaise with an internal cross-functional team of NBME staff from key business enabling units to maintain optimal operations of the NBME Assessment Alliance.
- These will include staff from finance, marketing/communication, legal, project management, Information Technology, and meeting planning to ensure that the Alliance program runs effectively, is communicated effectively (internally/externally) and allows collaborators to interact with NBME as seamlessly as possible.
- Liaise with NBME's Philanthropy Director and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director to ensure mission alignment of the NBME Assessment Alliance
- Manage the overall NBME Assessment Alliance budget in concert with NBME strategic finance and philanthropy efforts
- Develop periodic progress reports of the success of the NBME Assessment Alliance programs for internal reporting to leadership and governance, as well as external presentations.
- Draft policies and procedures that lead to the effective operations of NBME Assessment Alliance
- Supervise program administrator staff to effectively plan, coordinate and communicate activities across the Alliance network.
- Communications with funded school faculty, investigators, industry innovators; maintaining schedules of activities to assure completion of all aspects of work
- Plan and organize the activities of an external advisory panel
DELIVERABLES
- Manage complex operations of a multi-faceted collaborative program across individuals and organizations
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the NBME Assessment Alliance program by developing and tracking a set of key metrics. As this is established, produce quarterly reports.
- Assure efficient planning of activities, meetings(internal/external) and reports across the collaboration network.
- Anticipate and deliver solutions, as well as resolve any potential communication, funding and strategic alignment of work across the collaborations network.
- Deliver timely reports of progress and budgetary tracking of the Alliance projects.
- Ensure information for NBME internal and external communications is accurate.
- Represent NBME and the NBME Assessment Alliance program to external stakeholders, health professions schools/programs and organizations with the highest degree of integrity, trust, and collaborative spirit.

QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Abilities

- Anticipation and creative resolution of challenges to ensure the growth and success of all the NBME Assessment Alliance programs
- Understanding of grants and extra-mural funding programs in health professions education and/or healthcare context, including grants management, call for applications, selection of awardees, timely signing of agreements, management of time-bound projects and associated deliverables including progress reports from collaborators, payment to collaborators and grant recipients.
- Basic meeting planning skills - and ability to work with NBME meeting planning staff
- High emotional intelligence

- 5 years related work experience
- Experience developing and maintaining program/project budgets
- Supervision of direct reports
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is strongly preferred
