RESPONSIBILITIES
NSA's mission is to help protect national security by providing policy makers and military commanders with the intelligence information they need to do their jobs. NSA's priorities are driven by externally developed and validated intelligence requirements, provided to the NSA by the President, his national security team, and their staffs through the National Intelligence Priorities Framework. NSA Intelligence Analysts are expected to take an inclusive approach to problem solving and mission accomplishment by frequently engaging with partners, enablers and customers across the Intelligence Community. Description of Position Intelligence Analysts have the power to influence world affairs. They provide the most complete possible foreign signals intelligence picture to U.S. policy makers and military commanders, and seek creative solutions to answer analytical questions. Intelligence Analysts are at the forefront of implementing NSA's mission, and they do so in a variety of ways: - Research and understand foreign intelligence targets, how they operate and how they fit in the larger geo-political context - Apply new techniques and develop creative solutions to address analytic problems such as synthesizing large volumes of data and disparate sources of information - Demonstrate a firm understanding of the communications environment and technology trends of foreign intelligence targets - Craft written assessments of foreign intelligence that provide unique insight into target intentions unavailable from other intelligence disciplines - Work independently and collaborate effectively (both within NSA and with other analysts in the Intelligence Community) in research, analysis, and reporting
SKILLS
Coursework, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following is desired: - Signals intelligence analysis and reporting - Target development - Computer science or networking - Cyber / Cybersecurity / Information Security / Network Security - Joint or interagency cyber planning at strategic, tactical, operational levels - Military exercises / operational planning - Data modeling, mining, or science - ELINT / Geospatial analysis - Foreign Relations/Partnering - Legislative Affairs, Policy Development - Intelligence analysis - Technical skills - Analytic editing/writing - Leadership - Intelligence Watch and/or Operations Center - Network incident triage - Metadata analysis - Quantitative / Statistical analysis - Research methodology - Social network analysis - Critical foreign languages - Telecommunications - Regional studies/expertise relevant to national security - Information/Data management (archival, historical, metadata tagging/filtering/retrieval) Relevant Internships, extracurricular activities, and/or foreign study are also considered. Prior military without a degree but with intelligence analysis cryptologic experience will be considered. The ideal candidate has experience in areas of intelligence analysis, is intellectually curious, has a strong desire for learning and is also: - well-organized and able to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment - flexible and able to adapt to evolving priorities - a strong written and oral communicator - able to synthesize information to solve complex problems - able to work effectively across several different functional areas in a collaborative environment - able to provide timely and accurate customer service **NOTE: You will be required to take an Unproctored Test which measures cognitive ability, motivation, and English proficiency. PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 and 1800 (flexible). Exception: A very few positions may involve 12-hour rotating shifts. NSA hires for a variety of locations to include: Maryland, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas, Colorado, Utah, and other locations.
