Director, Marketing Communications Services
The Director of Marketing Communications Services leads an agency-style account management team that is responsible for implementing marketing and communication strategies for internal clients and their constituencies and to ensure the Minnesota Historical Society's priority programs and strategic initiatives achieve their goals (e.g. K-12 programs, MN History Center, various historic sites, exhibits, membership, resource development, and other priority programs). This includes, but not limited to, managing and developing a team of marketing and communication professionals, managing integrated marketing campaigns, editorial content development and curation, media relations and crisis communications, and brand management and positioning.
SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Lead and manage department operations by developing structures, systems and processes that anticipate and meet organizational needs; 2) Oversee the account management, project management functions, and external relations; 3) Manage the design, strategy, and execution of integrated marketing and communications campaigns to increase target audience awareness, engagement, and participation; 4) Oversee reporting and analyzing of the performance and impact of marketing and communications strategies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.

Eight years experience working in marketing and communications.

Experience in managing marketing communications, or creative teams (designers, copywriters, multimedia producers, etc.) in a matrixed organizational setting.

Experience managing marketing technology stack or responsible staff (marketing automation, email, social, web, etc.)

Project management experience required.

Demonstrated experience in leading the following disciplines: integrated marketing communications, including use of social media, issues management, constituent relations, branding, and public relations.

Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed, including evenings and weekends.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
DEMONSTRATED SKILLS IN:

Supervise staff, writing work plans and actively managing employee's performance to ensure success towards organizational goals.

Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies (especially with a combination of integrated marketing communications, digital marketing, content marketing, and media relations experience).

Lead complex, multiple-location communications and constituent relations programs, managing staffs, agencies and volunteers.

Write feature stories or other written content that aligns with the strategic objectives of an organization.

Experience in graphic design and/or experience working with graphic designers.

Experience with content management systems.

Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence".

High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.

Strong computer skills including intermediate or higher skill with Microsoft Office, and with all aspects of GOOGLE suite.
