Financial Services Manager
The University of South Carolina is seeking a Financial Services Manager with experience in financial administration and health insurance billing who is interested in a full-time career in an accredited patient-centered medical home within a college health environment. The University of South Carolina's University Health Services provides care through a care-team model with nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered dietitians, counseling, social workers, psychiatrists, and other allied health professionals, and employs approximately 200 staff members with an annual operating budget of more than $16,000,000.
This highly demanding mid-level administrative position is responsible for planning, staffing, managing, coordinating and evaluating all activities in the Financial Services Office. Major responsibilities include preparing various financial forecasts, month-end financial reporting, receivables performance, as well as short-term and long-range strategic planning. This position will manage the electronic health record charge-master and will propose and implement fee increases/decreases based on reliable data and analysis of year end reports. The incumbent will also be responsible for third-party billing for commercial insurance carriers to include electronic filing of claims. Serves on or chairs committees to address administrative or management issues. Participates, supports, and conducts continuing education activities to advance skills of self and staff. Ensures staff is cross trained as necessary to meet the needs of the Health Center. The Financial Services Manager reports to the Director of Financial Operations and may be considered critical staff during departmental and campus emergencies.
This position requires outstanding leadership and organizational skills, time management and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies overseeing business practices in a healthcare setting. Work effectively with patients, departments, physicians, outside providers and payers. Should have knowledge of commercial, workers comp and occupational health insurance claim billing.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, or business administration and 4 years professional accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in healthcare patient and insurance billing practices, collections, electronic health record management, healthcare financial administration and statistical analysis. Work experience necessary to gain a full understanding of credit and collection functions, financial analysis and third-party payer procedures in order to effectively direct the functions and activities of the department. Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Administrative experience that includes budget preparation or monitoring and data analysis. Ability to sufficiently function easily in a variety of patient accounting and billing systems. Analytical skills necessary to examine patient accounts, detect and resolve problems related to accounts receivable, and prepare and administer policies, procedures and budgets. Sound knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding. Working knowledge of Microsoft PC applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access). Ability to lead a team in a patient-centered team environment is preferred.
