Human Resources Finance Manager
Job Title: Medina Christian Academy Human Resources/Finance Manager

Job Summary:
The Finance/Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department and Finance department, including recruiting and administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Finance/Human Resource Manager will oversee and be accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of Medina Christian Academy to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve Medina Christian Academy assets and report accurate financial results. The Finance/Human Resource Manager will oversee the functions of accounting, audit, and budgeting as well as establish formalized processes and controls for accounting-related functions. The Finance/Human Resource Manager will be responsible for coordinating and assisting in the preparation of financial reports such as statements of activity and balance sheets, in addition to other special reports that may be needed. The role is a supervisory role within the HR/Finance Office and reports directly to the Head of School.

HR Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruits and onboards new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of departments.
- Discipline and termination of employees according to a policy with school administration.
HR Duties/Responsibilities
- Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. Recruits and onboards new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of departments.
- Discipline and termination of employees according to a policy with school administration.
- Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations and investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations in coordination with the administrative team.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment of qualified job applicants. Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Planning
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.
- Develop financial and non-profit status strategies.
- Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
- Develop performance measures that support Medina Christian Academy's strategic direction.
Operations
- Manage the accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments or functions.
- Oversee the financial operations of any subsidiary entity operations.
- Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced.
- Oversee the transaction processing systems.
- Assist in the implementation of operational best practices.
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Responsible for managing the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
- Establishing and monitoring formalized accounting policies, processes, and controls.
- Communicating accounting policies to affected employees and ensuring compliance with such policies.
- Reviewing all account reconciliations every month.
- Preparing monthly financial statements, including Statement of Cash Flows, for use internally.
- Supervising general accounting operations.
- Ensuring timely, accurate payment of debt service and management.
- Providing support in the hiring and training of accounting/Business Office staff.
- Personally review and approve all Form 990 and other federal or state requirements.
- Oversee the issuance of financial information.
- Oversee employee benefit plans, emphasizing maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.
Cash
- Supervising all incoming cash receipts and deposits.
- Maintaining daily cash balances and reviewing bank statements/activity monthly.
Debt & Treasury Function
- Reconciling debt annually.
- Ensuring accounts are funded following bank requirements.
- Facilitating monthly and annual debt payments.
- Assisting in communication with the bank regarding fees, debt covenants, and re-financings, including quarterly calculations and reporting.
- Reconciling investment accounts and assisting with managing investments and communication with investment institutions.
Audit
- Taking a lead position in preparing schedules and work papers for annual audits (school and 401k plan).
- Maintaining permanent office files for all audit schedules prepared by the school.
Risk Management
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the Medina Christian Academy risk profile.
- Monitor all open legal issues involving the school, and legal issues affecting private education.
- Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ensure that the school complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and governing authorities.
- Report risk issues to the Head of School
- Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
Funding
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
- Arrange for debt financing.
- Invest funds.
Third Parties
- Participate in Medina Christian Academy's financial and operational health communication to the MCA community.
- Maintain banking relationships.
- Preparing all periodic surveys and reports for the school's trade organizations.
- Preparing other similar data as requested.
General

- Support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities as requested.
