MDC has more than 65 outside sales representatives, as well as additional sales support, reporting to four regional offices. The company's sales efforts extend further through a worldwide distribution network. A staff of approximately 70 associates are located in MDC's corporate headquarters.
Account Executive - Alabama and Eastern Tennessee - preferred home base
Summary:
To perform this job successfully, an individual will represent MDC products to the commercial A&D community, end user, purchasing and installation companies in a territory to include Alabama, Destin, Florida, Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tennessee. The candidate should be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Service established MDC customers within the assigned territory.
- Develop and maintain relationships with all new and existing accounts.
- Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers, collaborate on projects, and develop specifications that lead to orders.
- Demonstrate a Solution Selling mindset and skills to meet the client/customer needs.
- Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to the sale, including product and CEU presentations, project specification, quoting, and negotiations.
- Display or demonstrate product using Keynote presentations, samples and catalogs.
- Use the CRM to manage accounts and projects.
- Maintain records of business transactions and prepare expense reports.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues.
- Participate in trade organizations and local trade shows.
- Approximately 20% overnight travel.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred. Associate's degree and experience in similar sales environment will be considered.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of previous sales experience in a business-to-business environment with a high degree of customer service.
Experience with Interior Design or Architecture is a PLUS! Industry-related sales experience is a PLUS!
- Ability to build new and existing relationships. Self-starter and motivated hunter with the goal of raising the awareness of MDC products to outperforming the competition. High degree of integrity.
- Must possess superb organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of internal and external customers. Excellent listening skills.
- Business Acumen skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and commissions.
- Collaboration skills with the desire to work as part of a great team.
- Ability to work with multiple deadlines. Able to work under pressure.
- To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Apple iWork software.
