Desired Experience and Attributes:
The Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services at Marietta College has responsibility for: financial planning and budgeting; accounting and business operations; financial reports and audits; treasury functions; human resources; facilities management, including planning and construction; procurement and contracting; auxiliary operations and services; information technology; campus safety; risk management; State and Federal reporting; and articulating and implementing a strategic plan for Finance and Administrative Services which aligns with the College's strategic plan. Thus, the minimum qualifications for the position include a bachelor's degree in business or finance and several years of progressively responsible experience in financial affairs and operations management of a complex organization. Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA or graduate degree in business or finance, and experience in higher education. In addition to internal management responsibilities, the VPFA must have the ability to communicate and work productively with the Board of Trustees. He or she serves as the liaison and support to the Finance, Investments, Audit and Administrative Operations, and Compensation Committees of the Board. The VPFA also will have an opportunity to teach classes in fields appropriate to the person's degree and experience.
