Job Function
Provide day-to-day hands-on administration of the College’s infrastructure systems and staff. As infrastructure team leader, responsible for providing reliable, high performance infrastructure systems.
Job Responsibilities
Manage the data center and day to day operations of the servers, storage systems, operating systems, databases and communication systems. Performs and/or directs system administration and patching of these systems.
Performance and availability of hardware and software as it relates to servers, storage, database, network and communication systems. Scheduling of hardware maintenance activities and system tests to ensure effectiveness and failover readiness of the hardware and software in use.
Serve as point of contact for system outages, coordinate vendor and/or other IT staff to resolve issue as appropriate.
Identify and make recommendations for improvements and technologies that will contribute to increased availability, stability, and performance of the College’s infrastructure. Research new technologies that will contribute to these improvements and implement recommendations as approved by the CIT Leadership.
Virtualization design and architecture of hardware, software and data backup technologies.
Configuration Management of server builds, network appliances and other infrastructure components. Update technical documentation, departmental policies and procedures.
Assist other areas of Information Technology related to the acquisition, installation, maintenance, problem diagnosis and training of computer systems.
Design and administration of monitoring servers and services.
Develop, maintain and review as needed plans to recover operating capability in the event of emergencies.
Manage and evaluate vendor/managed services contract performance as part of the College’s strategy to augment internal resources with contracted technical support where it makes strong business sense or where internal/local skillsets are impractical to source or unavailable.
Work collaboratively with Executive Management, Operations, Project Management and Application teams to identify and prioritize institutional needs, develop cost/benefit analysis, IT budgets, schedules and capacity plans.
Work collaboratively within department to act as a project manager for technical projects.
Performs related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Enterprise Network Director
SUPERVISION GIVEN: Supervise full time, contract and/or part-time supervisory/technical and clerical staff.
Education
Associates Degree AND Current Microsoft MCSA certification, or bachelor’s degree with specialization in Information Systems/Computer Science
Preliminary Qualifications
A minimum of three years’ work experience supporting a Microsoft based infrastructure environment. Must have hands-on work experience designing, implementing, configuring, troubleshooting a computer infrastructure similar in scope to that at the College.

Demonstrated orientation towards providing support service to a staff of professionals; demonstrated ability to work well with others; ability to use time effectively and demonstrated ability to communicate well both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to influence change by presenting clear and convincing reasoning through decisive and analytical problem resolution. Must be organized, motivated and drive towards project/task completion; formal project management skills will improve the employee’s success in this position.
Work Hours
May be required to work occasional long and/or irregular hours. Job responsibilities require work to be performed at all office/classroom sites, necessitating inter-building/campus travel.

Salary: $77,446 - $104,745 (2021-22 salary range) Maximum salary upon new hire $77,446 - $88,961
