Job Description:
The College of Education, Health, and Human Services at Longwood University invites applications for a Site Director of the Andy Taylor Center for Early Childhood Development. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The Andy Taylor Center is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. Our philosophy is based on the constructivist theory of child development, which ascertains that a child's knowledge and understanding of the world is constructed through their experiences in their environment, as well as through their interactions with others.
The Site Director is responsible for maintaining the vision and direction of the Center and serves as the day-to-day supervisor at the Center. The Director will be responsible for the hiring and evaluation of all staff and facilitate professional development. Additionally, the Site Director will communicate regularly with families and the community. Because the Center will function as a part of the University, the Site Director will also manage undergraduate and graduate student involvement in the Center.
Requirements:
Candidates should have undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in early childhood education or related fields and either hold or be eligible for a license from the Virginia Department of Education. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the development of young children as well as the leadership skills needed to manage and guide numerous staff members. It is also preferred that candidates have experience teaching children birth-five and successfully leading and in compliance with licensing regulations. Experience with Reggio-inspired teaching is preferred.

This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position.
