Public Relations Specialist: B2B & National Media
Are you a B2B and/or national media relations dynamo? Are you interested in joining a growing team with big media aspirations for its clients? We're on the hunt for our next Public Relations Specialist (or Strategist) who will focus on B2B and National Media! This is a Houston-based OR remote role.
Key Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Responsible for being a strong, contributing member of the account team, serving in execution role in 4-6 core accounts with trade and/or national media relations goals

Develop and maintain strong understanding of B2B client industries, voices and goals

Collaborate with team on ideas for strategy and tactics for all clients and execute related action items needed to move the needle for client growth across B2B and/or national media relations, influencer relations and partnership development & community integration service lines

Responsible for measuring and analyzing metrics related to media relations, influencer relations and/or partnership development & community integration for accounts for which you personally execute

Provide interns with opportunities to grow and learn by assigning projects and working together on tasks so they can gain experience in PR

Provide team members with PR campaigns, current pitches and media lists so they are able to communicate with the correct social media accounts

Identify missed opportunities and react; bring ideas to the team from competitors, industry leaders and current events
Responsible for the media relations execution for four to six B2B clients with trade and/or national media relations goals, with leadership, guidance and assistance from Manager of Public Relations
- Thorough knowledge and utilization of AP Style
- Fully understand how to use all tools needed to do job effectively and carry out all tasks (Meltwater, TV Eyes, Google Alerts, HARO, CoverageBook, etc.)
- Develop strong understanding and create/maintain great relationships with targeted trade and national media via email, phone calls, social media and in-person meetings
- Collaborate and contribute ideas in team brainstorms on campaigns and pitches for clients and promotions
- Stay abreast of PR/media trends and contacts and relay information to team and determine how to best apply to clients; ongoing research to understand trends, relevant media members, markets and industries
- Develop media relations campaign strategies as they relate to clients' goals; work with digital counterpart to ensure they align with digital strategies
- Stay up to date with all news relevant to targeted clients; spend 1-2 hours a week maintaining strong familiarity with media, industry trends and current events and react appropriately to missed and new opportunities
- Provide team members with PR campaigns, current pitches and media lists so they are able to communicate with the correct social media accounts
- Secure trade, national, local and/or regional coverage for all client accounts, following goals set out with Manager of Public Relations
- Actively attend client events and on-site liaison for coordinating details as necessary; create influencer/media/attendance list
- Monitor competitor/industry media coverage and social media conversations about client topic and bring opportunities and trends to clients
- Follow all media personalities and industry influencers on social media platforms and engage to develop and maintain strong personal relationships
- Develop all PR-related materials and keep up to date and on server (including pitches, press releases, media lists, talking points, community opportunities, event collateral, bios, fact sheets, media kit, etc.)
- Media outreach via phone, email, calendar listings, and media drops
- Monitor editorial calendars for PR opportunities, and pitch as appropriate
- Assist in and attend media interviews and photoshoots onsite
- Monitor and capture all news clippings, as it happens, and send to client; keep media coverage chart current
Responsible for the influencer relations execution for one to two clients, with leadership, guidance and assistance from Manager of Public Relations

Collaborate and contribute ideas in team brainstorms on influencer relations initiatives

Develop strategies for and execute all influencer relations deliverables, including but not limited to:

Development of influencer relations strategies that align with larger client goals and overall scope of service

Researching and building influencer lists

Developing and distributing influencer pitches and partnership asks emails (or correspondence via social media channels)

Developing influencer contracts and executing upon all relevant deliverables

Engaging with influencers via client social media channels, providing them with social media collateral/messaging/handles and/or working with relevant team members to execute upon any social media engagement

Tracking and reporting influencer relations results via monthly or quarterly measurement reports and/or real-time reports

Tracking and reporting expenses

Building and maintaining relationships with local, regional and national influencers on behalf of agency and clientele
Requirements:
- At least 3-4 years of experience in public relations, influencer relations, partnership development and/or strategic communications!
- A strong understanding and excitement around B2B public relations tactics and/or supporting businesses with a footprint in various markets!
- A solid track record of building and maintaining media relationships nationally, across various industries and for B2B clientele or organizations!
- Your eyes constantly scouting the next big public relations trend!
- Excellent writing capabilities and mastery of AP style!
- The chops to bring a strategic vision to life in partnership with an integrated team!
- Relationship-building prowess to connect with communities, networks and organizations in meaningful ways on behalf of clients!
- A knack for developing media relations and influencer relations strategies and content that incite action, specifically for and with B2B clientele!
- The creative voice to craft masterful story angles and pitches!
- One eye on big picture planning while the other eye tracks the details!
